Virginia Poer Jones of Gahanna, Ohio, age 84, passed away suddenly and from unexpected causes on November 4, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Virginia was born on November 13, 1925, in Covington, Kentucky, to the late Charles and Betty Poer. She graduated from Holmes High School in Covington, Kentucky, and Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky.

In 1946 she married Rev. Hughey L. Jones who served the Grace United Methodist Church from 1961-1967. To this union were born three children and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Charles Joseph Poer, sister Frances Poer Hammer, and grandson Brett Sutton. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Rev. Hughey L. Jones, daughter Susan Arnold (Michael), son Stephen Jones (Louanne), daughter Shelley Simeral, grandsons Bryan Sutton, Bradley Arnold (Jenifer), granddaughters Stephanie Jones, Sarah Arnold, Leslie Borbonio (Ruben) and Charlene Simeral.

Virginia was an avid reader who loved to play bridge. She was a member of the American Contract Bridge League, where she achieved the rank of Silver Life Master, and a member of Worthington United Methodist Church. Virginia held an unwavering deep religious faith, and her extraordinary wit and sense of humor will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

A private burial will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on November 13, 2010, followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. at the Worthington United Methodist Church, 600 High Street, Worthington, OH 43085.
