RIO GRANDE — The Village of Rio Grande had their hands full Wednesday trying to locate and repair a water line break that disrupted water service to Rio Grande residents and classes for University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College students.

Maintenance crews were digging on East College Ave. between Holzer Hall and the Davis Career Center Wednesday afternoon in an effort to locate the source of the water leak. It was reported that much of the village remained without water as of press time.

URG’s main campus in Rio Grande was closed Wednesday, Feb. 6, in response to the leak. The Meigs and McArthur Centers remained open Wednesday. According to URG Spokesperson Eric McKinney, the Rio Grande campus is scheduled to resume regular hours of operation Thursday, Feb. 7.
