Jim Morrison welcomes new Rotarian Charlene Smith to Gallipolis Rotary
The Gallipolis Rotary Club inducted a new member into the club today. Charlene Smith was inducted by Past Presidents Jim Morrison and Deb Rhodes. Jim first asked Charlene read the Object of Rotary to the club to remind every member why we are Rotarians. Next, Deb presented her with a membership certificate and Rotary club membership pin. Charlene is Director of Marketing for Ohio Valley Home Health. Welcome to Rotary, Charlene we are so happy to have you with us!

Attending today included Resty Alonzo, Gordon Amsbary, Heather Crum (nice to see her back), Jodie McCalla, Shana Booher, Lee Saltzgaber, Chuck Clark, Bob Hood, Deb Rhodes, Debbie Saunders, Lou Ellen Werry, Margret Evans, Jenny Evans, Clyde Evans, Charlene Smith, Jim Morrison, Sammy Lopez, Zac Fosler, Dave Nadler and his guest Aaron Rykowski, from the Ohio Valley Bank.

President Jodie McCalla opened today’s meeting and welcomed visiting Rotarian Mark Morgan from Westerville Sunrise Club, a guest of Lou Ellen Werry. President Jodie offered her appreciation to all who helped with the Bob Evan’s Farm Festival this last weekend! We benefited from great weather and the improved attendance should prove to be better than last year. We have no final numbers to report as yet.

District 6690 is planning an important Public Image Seminar for clubs on Saturday, November 10th at OU Lancaster campus. If anyone would be interested in attending please let Jodie know. Finally, the club will be holding a short board meeting right after the regular meeting today.

Announcement from VP Lee Saltzgaber—Lee announced to the club that he has accepted a new position as Chief Medical Officer in Rome, New York and will be leaving the area. This is a sad loss for the club as Lee has provided great leadership support as well as became a close friend to many. We wish Lee and his family the best of luck with his new endeavors.

Next week’s program will be chaired by Matt Willis and will feature Zachary Shawver who will be speaking to the club on his experiences in Afghanistan. Next week we will also be holding a SPECIAL REFERENDUM concerning whether to keep our current meeting time or whether to return to a morning meeting at the Doctors’ Dining Room. We are asking ALL MEMBERS to cast their ballot on this issue.

Split-the-Pot—Today’s STP was handled by VP Lee Saltzgaber who was able to raise our small pot to $7.00. Our winner today was Jim Morrison who donated his winnings to the Club’s local Foundation! Jim missed out on the Big One and was left empty handed. For the Foundation Fine, Jim levied anyone who wasn’t wearing a red tie. A good fine considering he was the only person in the room with a red tie.

Happy Bucks—Member Heather Crum is back with us after a long stint of traveling and being out and about. While in San Diego, her boyfriend of 8 years proposed and of course she said, YES! Margret Evans' daughter joined the Rotaract Club at Miami University. VP Lee Saltzgaber offered up a Happy Buck for getting the position he has always wanted. Charlene Smith is happy to part of the club. And President Jodie offered a happy buck for Charlene’s induction into the club and for her home being featured on this year’s home tour. Jim Morrison offered his happy buck for an enjoyable tour to Blennerhassett Island for a wonderful evening getaway.

Club Fellowship—Gordon Amsbary offered ‘This week in history.’ This week we saw an amazing feat--a new world record was set by Fearless Felix breaking the sound barrier with a 24-mile leap. Today is also National Boss’ Day. In 1868, ZCMI was founded as America’s first department store. It is National Cut-Up your Credit Cards and the beginning of Ramadan. Last, but not least, Dave Nadler was fined for arriving late!

Program—Today’s program time was dedicated to club business and Committee Breakout Sessions. After the brainstorming session of the committees, the chairs gave a brief update of the discussions.
