RIO GRANDE — The makeup of the Rio Grande Village Council has changed following the official recount of the Nov. 3 Gallia County general election.
According to results released Monday by the Gallia County Board of Elections, David Brodeur was declared the winner of one of the four seats up for grabs on the council. Initial unofficial results indicated that Mark E. Neal II (43 votes) had edged Brodeur (41) and Timothy K. Divens (41) for the final council seat.
Monday’s recount showed Brodeur with 44 votes, Neal with 43 and Divens with 42.
Brodeur will join Robert W. Allen, Cory E. Camden and Patty Weatherholt on village council in the new year. Allen picked up three votes in the recount compared to the Nov. 3 election (59-56). Camden (55-53) and Weatherholt (54-51) also picked up a few more votes according to the recount.
Elections officials said no other race results were changed following the recount.
Lawrence County school board elections involved voters from precincts located in Gallia County, but the results of the local vote were not previously printed in the Gallipolis Daily Tribune. Here are the local results:
• Fairland Local School Board: Lester Brumfield 72, Matt Ward 60, Gary Sowards 45, Martin Appleton 33, Timothy W. Fisher 23, Greg Crabtree 21, Janice Singer 20, Brian Morgan 19.
• Fairland Local School District (unexpired): Jason Gorby 79.
• Symmes Valley School Board: Tommy Shepherd 38, Hope Rowe 29, Steve Brown 21, Chris Thompson 13, Greg Ralph 11, Ryan L. Sells 11, S. Kent Wells 8, Luther Waugh 3.
