PROCTORVILLE, Ohio — It took five games, but the River Valley volleyball team ultimately left Lawrence County smiling Tuesday night following a hard-fought 25-18, 25-16, 23-25, 21-25, 15-6 victory over host Fairland in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup.

The visiting Lady Raiders (3-4, 2-1 OVC) stormed out to an early 2-0 match advantage, but the Lady Dragons countered by winning the next two games by a mere six points en route to forcing a decisive fifth-and-final game. RVHS found its rhythm in the finale to win by nine points — which wrapped up the 3-2 match decision.

Cady Gilmore led the service attack with 25 points, followed by Leia Moore with 22 points and Noel Mershon with 18 points. Janelle McClelland also added 17 points to the winning cause.

Tracy Roberts led the net attack with 25 kills and four blocks, followed by Moore with six kills. Mershon, Kaci Bryant and Alicia Ferrell all added four kills to the winning cause, while Justyce Stout rounded things out with three kills.

Chelsea Stanley led Fairland with 21 service points, followed by Haley Woodall with 15 points.
