The RSVP of the Ohio Valley is currently distributing HEAP applications in Gallia County. The HEAP Program provides assistance to low-income families, senior citizens and the disabled with their winter heating costs. HEAP is a federally funded one-time benefit, through the Ohio Department of Development. This benefit is directly applied to gas, propane or electric heating bills. The HEAP Program also provides assistance to individuals that heat with wood. The RSVP Program only provides the applications to individuals; they do not determine who is eligible to receive benefits.
Applications are also available at the RSVP office; 243 East Main Street, Jackson. RSVP volunteers can provide assistance with completing the application and assist individuals with their copying and mailing expenses. Please call 286-4918 for an application to be mailed to your home. Homebound individuals are welcome to call the RSVP office and speak with a RSVP staff person about traveling to their home to assist them with their HEAP application.
