Eastern tops Miller in TVC golf match

POMEROY, Ohio — The Eastern Eagles golf team easily defeated Miller on Thursday at Kountry Hills Golf Course in Pomeroy, Ohio, by a score of 172-214.

Christian Amsbary took medalist honors for the Eagles with a one over par round of 35. David Warner shot a 43, Chris Bissell had a 46, and Jay Warner added a 48. Also playing for the Eagles were Kyle Young (50) and Luke Kimes (54).

Miller was led by Dakota McGill with a 49. Colton Pargeon had a 52, Justin Hinkle shot a 55, and Evan Pargeon had a 58. Also golfing for Miller were Brandon Davis (60) and Chris Huffman (65).

The Eagles will host Trimble on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Trimble inches past Southern

POMEROY, Ohio — Southern’s Adam Pape shot a round of 45 on Thursday to take home tri-medalist honors in the Tornadoes’ match against Trimble at Kountry Hills Golf Course.

Trimble compiled a team score of 191 to beat Southern’s team score of 199.

Pape’s 45 was followed by Andrew Roseberry and Brandon Marcinko each with a round of 50, while Dyllan Roush added a 54. Also playing for the Tornadoes were Trenton Cook (57) and Cole Graham (59).

Trimble was paced by Tyler Davis and Kyle Russell who matched Pape’s 45. Colin Smith shot a 48 and Kendall Herbert had a 51. Additional players for Trimble were Jeff Andrews (60) and Dan Neiberline (65).

Southern will face Wahama and South Gallia on Tuesday.

Marauders fall to Athens

POMEROY, Ohio — The third match at Kountry Hills Golf Course on Thursday evening paired the Meigs Marauders against the Athens Bulldogs.

Meigs, playing with only four golfers, shot a team total of 234, while Athens shot a 143.

Meigs was led by Treay McKinney with a total of 51. Braden Spencer shot a 52, Dillan Andrews had a 56, and Gage Weisenmuller had a 75.

Athens was led by medalist Ky Crist with an even par round of 34. Chris Corrigan had a 35, Stan Smathers added a 36, and Michael Frame shot a 38. Also playing for the Bulldogs were Jacob Pratt (41) and Charles Beetem (45).

The Marauders will host Wellston on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Blue Devils finish 3rd at Ironton quad

IRONTON, Ohio — The Gallia Academy golf team fell to 48-8 overall this season after a third-place finish Wednesday afternoon during a quad match at Ironton Country Club in Lawrence County.

The Blue Devils — who posted a team tally of 162 — were 14 shots off the lead, as Ironton posted a winning tally of 148. Greenup County was the runner-up with a team score of 154, while Wheelersburg placed fourth with a total of 180.

Rob Canady paced the Devils with a par round of 35, followed by matching 42s by Corey Arthur and Derrick Gilmore. Boeing Smith rounded out the team score with a 43.

Warren Patrick and Gus Graham also had respective rounds of 49 and 57 for GAHS.

Ironton was led by medalist Josh Zornes with a 2-under par round of 33, followed by matching 38s by Andy Holzapfel and Josh Mullins. John Williams rounded out the winning total with a 39.

Josh Cooke and Mason Weisgarber also had respective efforts of 41 and 42 for the victors.

Eli Carr led Greenup County with a 35, followed by A. Heineman with a 36 and T. Smith with a 40. Travis Tussey rounded out the team total with a 43. Kaden Ashley and Zack Diller also had efforts of 46 and 50.

Casey Pennington and B. Arnold paced the ’Burg with matching 43s, followed by W. Ballard with 44 and Kyle Cline with 50. A. Boyer and N. Ferguson also had matching 51s for the Pirates.
