GALLIPOLIS — The annual Gallipolis River Recreation Festival will proceed as planned beginning Tuesday, July 3 and ending Saturday, July 7, according to Lorie Neal, IOM, Executive Director of the Gallia County Chamber of Commerce and Festival Coordinator. Although organizers were prepared to power the Gallipolis City Park by the use of generators, if needed, the committee breathed a sigh of relief Monday when power was restored to the site of the event.

Opening ceremonies will begin at 5 p.m. on the Main Stage. Also on the docket for tonight is discount amusement rides courtesy of AEP/Gavin. Rides will be $1 each on Tuesday night only from 5-11 p.m. Concessions and crafters will also open at 5 p.m.

The Royalty Parade and pageants for the River Recreation Festival Queen and Junior Miss will take place tonight beginning at 6:30 p.m.

“The Chamber and the River Recreation Festival Committee are thankful for support of the City of Gallipolis and for their fast action in getting the park cleaned up after Friday’s storm,” said Neal. “We also thank Michael Reisinger, owner of Michael’s Amusements, for working with us under less than ideal circumstances, Bill Heaberlin with Media Promotions for his quick assistance in finding a generator for the stage and all our local media for helping us get the word out.”
