GALLIPOLIS — As part of a district-wide comprehensive review of safety procedures, the Gallipolis City School District has announced that it will hold public safety meetings at each school.

“We think it is extremely important to hear from the public on the issue of safety and security,” said Roger Mace, superintendent of the Gallipolis City School District. “The safety of our students, staff and visitors is our number one priority, and it is important to let our citizens know what we are doing to keep them safe while they are at our buildings.”

“We should continue to be diligent in reviewing our policies and procedures on safety to ensure we are doing everything we can to protect our most prized possession, our children,” added Troy Johnson, transportation/safety director for the Gallipolis City School District.

“The goal of these meetings is to hear the public’s safety concerns so that we can address the threats that our schools are facing today. We also want our community to know what procedures they can expect when they visit our buildings. In the interest of safety, some of our procedures cannot be divulged due to their sensitive nature,” added Johnson.

The meeting schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, Feb. 12

• Gallia Academy High School Auditorium, 5:30 p.m.

• Green Elementary School Gymnasium, 7 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 19

• Rio Grande Elementary School Gymnasium, 7 p.m.

Thursday, Feb. 21

• Gallia Academy Middle School Cafeteria, 5:30 p.m.

• Washington Elementary School Auditorium, 7 p.m.
