GALLIPOLIS — The Big Bad Wolf and Wicked Witch, two of fairy tale’s most heinous meanies, are headed to trial in the upcoming production, “Fairy Tale Courtroom,” presented by the French Art Colony’s Riverby Theater Guild. Performances are 7 p.m. on Friday, August 17 and 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 18.
Guilt or innocence will be determined by the jury (the audience), as the villains nasty deeds come to life in the testimonies from many of the most colorful characters from childhood bedtime stories. The Three Pigs, Dorothy of Oz, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Prince Charming, Little Red Riding Hood, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, Hansel and Gretel, and several others all make appearances. The wacky Judge, frazzled lawyers, and bailiff have their hands full as the entertaining trials unfold.
“The play, by Dana Proulx, is filled with wonderful character roles for youth actors”, says French Art Colony and Riverby Theater Guild Executive Director, and production co-director, Joseph Wright. He continues, “This is the second time I have directed this play. It is a great crowd pleaser, and gives every actor the opportunity to move the audience to laughter.” Christina Cogar will co-direct the project with Wright.
The production will perform outdoors on the French Art Colony lawn. Guests are asked to bring their own lawn chairs. In the event of inclement weather, call the French Art Colony for performance updates.
