CENTENARY — The Gallipolis City School District Board of Education made two decisions during its Wednesday meeting concerning the Eastman Athletic Complex at the new Gallia Academy High School.
School board members voted to accept a $74,000 donation from the Eastman family that will be used for improvements to the baseball field at GAHS. The donation also guarantees that the field will be named in honor of the late Robert H. Eastman, the founder of the Eastman’s supermarket chain who passed away earlier this year.
According to the resolution adopted Wednesday, the field will be named the Robert H. “Bob” Eastman Ballfield and a sign will be installed at the complex to reflect that.
The board of education also approved a resolution awarding a construction contract to Hickory Valley Sod Farm for installation of the new baseball field and any improvements related to it. The amount of the contract is $68,281.39.
