LOGAN — The Ohio School Boards Association honored Gallia County Local Schools Superintendent Dr. Charla C. Evans with the OSBA Southeast Region Presidentʼs Award last week in Logan.

Evans was honored during the regionʼs fall conference at Logan High School. Also receiving special recognition was Larry Miller, retired chairman of the Ohio Coalition for Equity and Adequacy of School Funding. Miller was presented with the Southeast Region Advocate of Education Award.

About 200 school board members, administrators, staff, students and guests from across southeastern Ohio gathered for the annual conference, which featured updates from OSBA officers and staff, the election of 2013 region officers and a number of awards and recognitions. In addition to Evans and Miller, the region recognized exemplary student programs, outstanding school board members and veteran school board members.

Eighteen counties comprise the OSBA Southeast Region: Athens, Belmont, Coshocton, Gallia, Guernsey, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Morgan, Muskingum, Monroe, Noble, Perry, Pike, Scioto, Vinton and Washington. The other OSBA regions are Central, Northeast, Northwest and Southwest.

Founded in 1955, the Ohio School Boards Association leads the way to educational excellence by serving Ohioʼs public school board members and the diverse districts they represent through superior services and creative solutions.
