GALLIPOLIS — Indictments were recently issued in Gallia County Common Pleas Court for a pair of individuals arrested by local law enforcement in connection with two seemingly unrelated restaurant robberies.
• William J. Denney, II, 24, Gallipolis, has been charged with aggravated robbery for allegedly, in attempting or committing a theft offense or in fleeing immediately after the attempt or offense, knowingly having a deadly weapon, in this case a knife, on or about his person or under his control and did display the weapon, brandish it, indicate that he possessed it, or use said weapon on or about Nov. 29, according to the indictment.
Denney is accused of using the knife to hold up Pizza Plus last month. According to records carried over from Gallipolis Municipal Court, descriptions of the alleged suspect and the vehicle he fled in were consistent with Denney and his vehicle.
During his arraignment Monday, Denney pled not guilty to the charge and a $500,000 10 percent secured bond was continued over from municipal court with an additional bond set at $1,500 10 percent secured.
His jury trial is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 18, 2010 at 9 a.m.
• Jacey D. Mahan, 25, Gallipolis, has been charged with one count of robbery for allegedly in attempting or committing a theft offense or in fleeing immediately after the attempt or offense, knowingly inflict, attempt to inflict, or threaten to inflict physical harm on a Long John Silvers employee on or about Nov. 28.
Mahan is accused of threatening to shoot the employee if she did not give up the contents of the register, however she is not charged with actually brandishing a weapon during the commission of the alleged offense.
Mahan has also been indicted for alleged obtaining, possessing, or using five 80-milligram Oxycontin on or about Jan. 18, an offense that she had been previously charge with in common pleas court, though was dropped by prosecutors in October for the reason that parties were engaged in negotiations.
Mahan pled not guilty to both charges and was placed under a $50,000 10 percent secured bond and an additional bond set at $1,500 10 percent secured.
Her jury trial is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 18, 2010 at 9 a.m.
