Court accepts guilty pleas

GALLIPOLIS — Multiple guilty pleas have been accepted recently in Gallia County Common Pleas Court resulting in sentences of probation and fines.

Cases recently resolved include:

• Brandon M. Smith, 18, 450 Second Ave., Gallipolis, was sentenced to 48 months of community control after he pled guilty to two counts of burglary and one count of breaking and entering.

Smith was further ordered to pay $867 in restitution to Nicholas W. Hunt, $879 in restitution to the Down Under Restaurant, $400 in restitution to Randy Ratcliff, and costs of the prosecution for judgment rendered along with successfully completing the SEPTA program, an evaluation by Spectrum Outreach Services, and registering with Ohio Employment Services.

• Robert W. McClaskey II, 31, 385 Theiss Road, Vinton, was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine after he pled guilty to one count of attempted obstructing official business, a misdemeanor.

He had initially been charged with receiving stolen property regarding a Remington 12-gauge shotgun, a Remington 16-gauge shotgun, and a Marlin .22 caliber single shot rifle belonging to Robert Ruff.

• Jackie L. Ellis, 27, 545 Skidmore Road, Bidwell, was sentenced to 24 months of community control after she pled guilty to one count of obstructing justice for warning Troy Jarrell of impending discovery or apprehension by law enforcement regarding a drug possession offense.

Ellis was further ordered to perform 500 hours of community service with all but 40 hours stayed, register with Ohio Employment Services, obtain her GED, and pay costs of the prosecution for judgment rendered.

• Leon M. Brock, 36, Charleston, W.Va., was sentenced to 24 months of community control after he pled guilty to possession of drugs regarding 29 grams of cocaine.

He was further ordered to perform 500 hours of community control with all but 40 hours stayed, an evaluation by Spectrum Outreach Services, register with Ohio Employment Services, and pay costs of the prosecution for judgment rendered.

• Pauline M. McCoy, 58, 1522 Alice Road, Vinton, was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine after she pled guilty by bill of information to one count of attempted illegal use of food stamps or WIC program benefits, a misdemeanor offense.
