MASON — Chuck Stanley of Mason and Haskel Jones of Charleston share the early lead in the second half of Riverside Golf’s Senior Golf League. Both players have a total of 50.5 points for their efforts. Jack Maloney of Gallipolis, OH, is positioned right behind the leaders with 49 points for the season.
The third week of the season’s second half brought out 81 players forming 18 four-man teams and three teams of three. The format made twenty-one points possible for the winning team which was comprised of Stanley (Mason), Bob Humphreys (Camp Conley), Clark Greene (Hurricane), and Jones (Charleston).
Tied for second place were the teams of Paul Maynard (Pt. Pleasant), Elmer Chuck (Cottageville), Butch Bookman (Pomeroy, OH), and Jack Maloney (Gallipolis, OH); and Bob Oliver (Mason), Chet Thomas (Patriot, OH), Curtis Grubb (Gallipolis, OH), and Ralph Sayre (New Haven).
The closest to the pin winners were Bob Stewart on the ninth hole and Paul Somerville on the fourteenth hole.
The league’s weekly average number of players for the season’s second half is 70, with a total of 96 different players attending at least one week of play. Ten weeks of play remain in the second half, allowing plenty of time to golf, compete, and meet new friends.
