Jack A. Ratliff

Jack A. Ratliff, 87, of Gallipolis, and formerly of Vinton, Ohio, passed away at his residence on June 18, 2013, after a short battle with cancer. Jack was born March 7, 1926, in Harold, Kentucky. He was the son of the late George B. And Gypsy Layne Ratliff. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded by his wife of 57 years, Eulavene Ratliff; a son, Russell Arnold; brothers and sisters, Raymond, Buford, Olan, Lois, Betty Jo Ratliff, and daughter-in-law, Judy (French) Ratliff.

Jack was a man of service who early in his life chose to serve his country in the U. S. Army. He participated in our country’s battle for the Philippines as a member of a unit that received two bronze stars. He was honorably discharged and returned to his home where he served his community as a diesel and auto mechanic and later as the owner/operator of Ratliff Auto Service in Vinton, Ohio. Jack was a member of Deer Creek Freewill Baptist Church since 1965 where he served as deacon and Sunday School teacher.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Ratliff, who he married December 6, 2002; four sons, Bill (Linda) Ratliff, Vinton, Ohio, Kenny (Kelli) Ratliff, Gallipolis, Ohio, Bobby (Penny) Ratliff, Evergreen, Ohio, Jim (Debbie) Ratliff, Huntington, West Virginia; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Christie (Mark), Steve, Kelly, Katie, Kari, Brian (Jamie), and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, George Ratliff, Vinton, Ohio, and many special friends including Eddie and Freda Kinney, Vinton, Ohio.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the Deer Creek Freewill Baptist Church, Vinton, Ohio, with Pastor Mickey Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park with full Military Grave Side Rites conducted by Vinton American Legion Post 161. Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, on Friday, June 21 from 6-8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Bill, Kenny, Bobby, Jim, Jeff, Steve, Brian and Mark.

Sharron R. (Davis) Bradbury

Sharron R. (Davis) Bradbury, 72, of Gallipolis, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at her residence, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with recent health issues.

She was born June 21, 1940, in Gallipolis, daughter of the late Forrest “Doc” and Evelyn Foster Davis. Sharron was married to Paul Dale Bradbury on March 30, 1972, and he survives her. She graduated from the Holzer School of Nursing in 1963 and retired from nursing after forty years of service at Holzer Medical Center. Sharron was a member of Chapel Hill Church of Christ, Gallipolis, Ohio, and attended Grace Brethren Church in Brooksville, Florida.

She devoted the majority of her time to her husband, children, and especially the grandkids. Sharron also enjoyed sewing, quilting and crafting. She donated many of her crafts to the church for baby baskets for those in need and also helped to make care packages for the soldiers overseas.

Sharron enjoyed spending the winter months with her husband in Brooksville, Florida, at Camper’s Holiday surrounded by many close friends and loved ones.

Surviving are her husband, Paul Bradbury of Gallipolis; a daughter, Wendy (Bob) Lucas of Bidwell; two sons, Steven (Kim) Bradbury of Athens and Paul D. (Misty) Bradbury of Gallipolis; five granddaughters, Tayler and Allison Bradbury, Alyssa, Emma and Kara Lucas; three sisters, Louise Kiesling of Gallipolis, Patricia Haas of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Diane Fowlkes of Huntsville, Alabama; several nieces and nephews including a special niece Ruth Kiesling of Columbus, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Joe Davis; a niece, Bambi Kiesling, and a nephew, Bobby Kiesling.

Services will held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2013, at the Willis Funeral Home with Minister Bill Meade officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, June 20, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Tyler Farber, Chris Ratliff, Steve Ratliff, Mark Dillon, Timothy Yeager, Nate Peifer and Bill Kyle. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Timms and Frank Bonin.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Sharron’s memory to Chapel Hill Church of Christ to help to continue her charity work with baby baskets.
