ALBANY, Ohio — Keeping a good thing going.
The Meigs volleyball team kept their undefeated mark in tact by defeating Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division host Alexander in five games, Tuesday night in Athens County.
The Lady Marauders (4-0, 1-0 TVC Ohio) edged Alexander (0-3, 0-1) 26-to-24 in the opening game, but Alexander won the second game 25-19. Meigs rolled to a 25-13 win in the third game, the Spartans evened the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth game, and the Maroon and Gold closed out the win with a 15-12 victory in the fifth game.
Kelsey Hudson led the Meigs service attack with 13 points, followed by Deyvn Oliver with six points, and Amanda Cole with five. Lindsay Patterson marked four points, while Brook Andrus and Hannah Cremeans added two. Hudson posted seven aces, Oliver added five, Andrus marked two, while Cole, Cremeans and Patterson each had one.
The MHS net attack was led by Andrus with 15 kills, followed by Oliver and Cole with 12 apiece. Hudson posted nine kills, Cremeans marked two, while Ariel Ellis added one. Oliver had a team-high 18 assists, Patterson marked 13, while Ellis added three. Cole and Andrus both led the defense with two blocks, followed by Hudson with one.
The Lady Marauders have went to five games in three of their four games this season. Meigs will return to action on Thursday when it hosts Nelsonville-York in a TVC Ohio contest at Larry R. Morrison Gymnasium.
