TUPPERS PLAINS, Ohio — Both teams stayed perfect, but only one was hoping for that outcome.
The Meigs volleyball team remained unbeaten early on in the 2014 season following a 25-13, 25-20, 25-14 victory over host Eastern Monday night in a non-conference matchup of Meigs County programs at the Eagle’s Nest.
The visiting Lady Marauders (3-0) cruised through the first and third games for a pair of double-digit victories, but the Lady Eagles (0-2) put up more of fight in the middle round before ultimately dropping Game 2 by five points.
The triumph was the first for Meigs over EHS since the Lady Marauders won a 22-25, 25-10, 25-20, 25-20 decision at Larry R. Morrison Gymnasium back on September 2, 2009.
Devyn Oliver led the MHS service attack with 17 points and 12 aces, followed by Brook Andrus and Kelsey Hudson with four points apiece. Amanda Cole and Lindsay Patterson also scored three and two points, respectively, for the guests. Andrus, Hudson, Cole and Patterson also added four, three, two and one service aces for the victors.
