TUPPERS PLAINS, Ohio — If you’re looking for a pitcher’s duel, look elsewhere.


The Eastern and Trimble softball teams combined for 22 runs and 18 hits Wednesday night, as the Lady Eagles rolled to a 16-6 Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division victory Wednesday in Meigs County.


The Lady Eagles (17-1, 12-0 TVC Hocking) marked a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and added three more in the bottom of the third. The Lady Tomcats (7-9, 7-6) trimmed the deficit to three in the top of the fourth by marking two runs.


Eastern scored four in the bottom of the fourth frame, but Trimble posted four runs of its own in the top of the fifth. The Lady Eagles marked seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the mercy rule victory by a 16-6 count.


Grace Edwards earned the pitching victory after allowing six runs on just four hits and two walks, while striking out 11.


Nikki Kish suffered the loss after allowing 16 runs on 14 hits and 10 walks, while striking out four.


Amber Moodispaugh led Eastern with four hits, followed by Jourdan Griffin, Erin Swatzel, Grace Edwards and Hannah Hawley with two hits each. Shaye Selbee and Jess Coleman each had one hit, while Moodispaugh led the way with four runs batted in. Griffin, Edwards, Swatzel and Coleman each drove in two runs, while Hawley had one RBI. Edwards and Selbee each had three runs scored, Cline, Coleman and Moodispaugh each scored twice, while Griffin, Swatzel, Hawley and Katlyn Barber each scored once.


Alisa JayJohn led Trimble with two hits, followed by Kish and Faries with one hit each.


Eastern has now won seven games in a row and the Lady Eagles also defeated THS on April 16, by a 12-0 count in Glouster. The six runs scored by Trimble matches a season-high allowed by Eastern. The other team to score six on Eastern was Wheelersburg, which defeated EHS on April 19.
