MASON, W.Va. — Kane Roush scored four touchdowns and ran for 153 yards in leading the Wahama White Falcons to a relatively easy 53-12 win over injury-riddled Federal Hocking, Friday evening before a large homecoming turnout at Bachtel Stadium.

Wahama (6-1, 5-1 TVC Hocking) tallied 474 total yards offensively and turned two of three Lancer (3-4, 2-3) turnovers on the night into touchdowns. The gridiron victory concluded a distracting week for the Red and White after successful, veteran Wahama head coach, Ed Cromley, severed connections with the Bend Area School during a surprising announcement on Wednesday. Defensive Coordinator, Dave Barr, took over the head coaching duties and WHS rolled to the victory despite the unexpected disturbance.

Roush finished the evening with 153 yards in 15 carries to give the senior speedster 872 yards rushing on the year and pull the elusive running back to within 197 yards of what is believed to be the Falcons’ All-Time, career rushing leader. Roush has tallied 20 touchdowns and a two-point conversion on the year for 126 points this season. He tallied scoring runs of 42 and 21 yard runs in addition to adding a pair of four yard bursts to pace the Bend Area team offensively.

Colton Neal also turned in yet another incredible performance with rave reviews from both the offensive and defensive side of the football. Neal ran for an eight yard score in addition to picking off a Federal Hocking aerial and returning it 17 yards for a touchdown while spending a great deal of uninvited time in the Federal Hocking backfield.

Garrett Miller also picked off a Lancer pass offering and returned it 45 yards for six points with Josh Haddox moving from his offensive line position into the WHS backfield where he rambled 42 yards for the Falcons’ final score. Brandon Stewart enjoyed his best night of the season with 75 yards in only seven carries while Neal added 64 and Haddox 54 yards on the ground for Wahama.

The hosts jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead in the first 3:15 of the game before extending its edge to 27-0 at the intermission break. WHS added a pair of scores in the third quarter to extend its lead to 39-0 before Federal Hocking avoided the shutout with a late touchdown after the halftime break. Wahama scored again before the quarter ended when Miller pulled down a tipped pass and raced 45 yards untouched to make the tally 46-6 with one period remaining. Haddox scored the Bend Area team’s final touchdown with 8:22 remaining with Walker Church concluding the night’s scoring with a two yard run with just :13 to play.

Neither team performed very well in the extra point structure with Federal Hocking failing on both of their PAT tries while Wahama was successful on just four of their eight opportunities. Neal caught a two-point conversion pass from Hunter Bradley and Billy Joe McDermitt booted three point after kicks to account for the limited scoring following the 10 touchdowns recorded during the evening.

The White Falcons are slowly working their way up the WVSSAC Class A rankings after winning five straight contests since a 12-7 TVC Hocking Division loss to Trimble during the second week of the 2013 season. Wahama will visit South Gallia for a league encounter with the Rebels next Friday, while Federal Hocking hopes to snap a brief two game losing streak when the Lancers host Miller in a Hocking Division confrontation with the Falcons.
