Point CC competes at Hurricane Invitational

HURRICANE, W.Va. — The Point Pleasant boys finished fourth out of five teams Saturday afternoon during the 2013 Hurricane Cross Country Invitational held at the Hurricane Wave Pool Park in Putnam County.
The Black Knight finished the day with a team tally of 115 points, which was 15 points ahead of last place South Charleston (130). Winfield won the boys team title with 28 points, with Hurricane (32) and Huntington (87) rounding out the top three spots.
Hayden Harrison of Buffalo beat out 65 other competitors to win the boys individual crown with a time of 17:22.9. R.J. Weiford of Winfield was the overall runner-up with a mark of 17:24.6.
Hunter White led PPHS with a 17th place effort of 19:06.1, followed by Joseph Littlepage with a 26th place time of 19:45.4. Guy Fisher (22:21.6) was 47th and Brandon Hall (24:08.8) placed 56th overall, while Darrell McBeath (25:11.8) rounded out the scoring with a 62nd place finish. Byron Fisher was also 65th for Point with a mark of 30:17.2.
Hurricane won the girls team title with a score of 26 points, finishing four spots ahead of runner-up Winfield (30). Scott was third in the three-team event with a tally of 81 points.
Tori Dent of Hurricane beat out 46 other runners to win the individual girls crown with a mark of 20:23.7. Brittney McMillion of Winfield was the overall runner-up with a time of 20:42.9.
The Lady Knights had one competitor at the event, as Avery Daughtery was 42nd overall with a mark of 33:40.6.
