POMEROY — Erin MacLellan, a public information officer with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, talked about energy choice during the Business-Minded Luncheon on Aug. 19, which was hosted by the Meigs County Chamber of Commerce.

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio monitors the activities of utility and transportation companies.

MacLellan covered how to evaluate energy offers and save money.

“At the bottom of your bill is a number called ‘Price to Compare,’” MacLellan said “This is the number you need to check.”

She expounded on the apples to apples chart PUCO has on their website, and said that individuals need to evaluate the price per kilowatt, rate type, length of contract, termination fees, renewable energy and promotional offers.

MacLellan encouraged people to call the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio’s call center if they had any questions. The phone number is 1-800-686-7826.
