Gallia County residents bow their heads in prayer at noon Thursday in front of the Gallia County Courthouse to acknowledge National Day of Prayer. People who attended the event first heard from Gallia County Commissioner Brent Saunders, who read a proclamation designating May 1 as National Day of Prayer. Pastor Bob Hood, of Bulaville Church, then read passages from the Bible before engaging in prayer. National Day of Prayer is an annual day of observance conducted on the first Thursday of May, designated by Congress, when people are asked “to turn to God in prayer and meditation.” Day of Prayer is meant for participation by people of all faiths.
