GALLIA COUNTY — Laughter abounds in the upcoming comedy, “The Ladies of Harmony”, presented by the French Art Colony’s Riverby Theatre Guild. The play by Ron Hill introduces the audience to six ladies from Harmony Church, as they plan a funeral dinner for a man they despise.
The planning of the dinner falls to the wayside as the characters eat donuts, drink coffee and gossip on a variety of topics, including pastor Bob’s go-go dancing fiancee. The conversation is based on a series of misunderstood “facts” overheard at the beauty shop, and is enhanced by the coffee they drink (which is spiked with Kahlua, unbeknownst to the ladies!)
The production is directed by French Art Colony executive director, Joseph Wright and is cast with six local actors; Lucia Colley, Francis Gibser, Maria Hampton, Lesa Lemley, Rita Walker and Elaine Wheeler.
Performances of “Ladies of Harmony” are set for Saturday, November 2, at 7 p.m., at Christ United Methodist Church, located at 968 Ohio 7 South, in Gallipolis. The show will also play on Sunday, November 3, at 2 p.m., at the Bob Evans Farm Event Barn, in Rio Grande.
Tickets for the production, at either location, are $12, and includes refreshments at intermission. The production is rated PG, for mild language. Advance reservations are requested, but not required. Reserve tickets by calling the French Art Colony at 740-446-3834.
