GALLIPOLIS — A free workshop on the topic of healing oils of the Bible that was originally scheduled for Sunday, January 26 has been moved, due to inclement weather, to Sunday, February 2 at the historic Ariel-Dater Hall in downtown Gallipolis.
The class, that will begin at 2 p.m., is a part of the Ariel Workshop series and will be presented by guest lecturer Nancy Tawney, N.D. (naturopathic doctor) and will cover the many uses of essential oils mentioned in the Bible. Those attending will have a chance to inhale, diffuse and apply the different oils to their bodies. Essential oils played an important role in the lives of Biblical people who appreciated the healing power of the oils. Admission is free and attendees are encouraged to bring their Bibles.
Tawney was the owner of Nancy Tawney Framing in Gallipolis, Ohio, where she was a professional framer. She became interested in herbs and essential oils when she had a health challenge of her own and later added an herb shop to the framing business.
She is a graduate of Trinity School of Natural Health and also a Certified Natural Health Professional. Tawney is probably best known for her life-long enthusiasm for golf and is a member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association. She currently teaches golf in the tri-state area along with teaching others about essential oils.
Tawney will be offering a series of classes which include an introduction to essential oils on March 23, essential oils for pets on May 18, back to school with essential oils on August 10, and a special class in October to make soap using essential oils and fragrances.
