Weekend fires claim two Gallia County homes

GALLIA COUNTY — Local volunteer firefighters were on the scene of two structure fires this weekend in the southern portion of Gallia County.
The first fire was reported to District 2 fire personnel members at approximately 10:12 p.m. on Saturday evening at a residence located at 10597 Ohio 218 just south of Mercerville.
Volunteers with the District 11 Fire Department were also called in to provide mutual aid at the fire, and a Gallia County EMS unit was also called to the scene.
As a result of the fully involved structure fire, phone lines were knocked down and residents in the area were reportedly without phone service for a period of time.
According to dispatchers with the Gallia County 911 Center, no one was transported from the scene with injuries.
Reportedly, the last fire department apparatus cleared the scene on Ohio 218 at approximately 3:36 a.m. on Sunday morning.
The second reported house fire was reported to dispatchers at 12:45 a.m. on Monday morning and volunteers with the Gallipolis Fire Department were subsequently dispatched to the scene.
This second fire was reportedly located at 4222 Ingalls Road, near the intersection of Ingalls Road and Ohio 218.
According to dispatchers, volunteer fire fighters with the District 11 Fire Department, as well as the District 2 Fire Department were called to the scene to provide mutual aid.
Crews were on scene until approximately 5:52 a.m. on Monday morning. Dispatchers also reported that no one was transported from this fire with injuries.
