GALLIPOLIS — A Gallia County man alleged to have stolen a car last week was arrested this weekend by deputies with the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office following his release from Holzer Medical Center.
Jason Jenkins, 37, Centenary, is currently being held in the Gallia County Jail and is facing a felony charge of aggravated robbery following an incident that was reported to authorities last Thursday evening.
According to Gallia County Sheriff Joe Browning, deputies were alerted to the robbery after Jenkins had allegedly threatened his ex-girlfriend with a handgun and stole her car.
Following this report, the sheriff’s office SWAT team executed a search warrant at the suspect’s trailer on Herman Road in Green Township where the car was found parked by the residence. The handgun that Jenkins had allegedly used to threaten the victim was later found to be an air gun, according to Browning.
Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Gallia County EMS also assisted deputies on Thursday night at the scene. Jenkins was found at the home possibly overdosed, with minor cuts to his wrist. He was subsequently transported to the Holzer Medical Center.
According to Browning, Jenkins was arrested on Saturday following his release from the hospital.
It is expected that felony charges of aggravated burglary will be filed against Jenkins during the next session of the grand jury in the Gallia County Common Pleas Court.
