GPD seeks man suspected of forging nearly $8K

GALLIPOLIS — Officers with the Gallipolis Police Department are currently searching for information in regard to a suspect who allegedly forged checks in an amount totaling nearly $8,000 from a local business earlier this year.
According to a report filed with the police department, the victim in this case, a business located in Gallipolis, reported last week that four counterfeit checks were cashed in their business name, checks totaling $7,490.83
The counterfeit checks were reportedly cashed on April 8, 2013, at a bank located in West Virginia, but the business reportedly just noticed the missing money from their account on September 10 and contacted the bank and the police department immediately thereafter.
Additional information in this case is being withheld pending further investigation.
