500 pot plants eradicated, Lucasville man arrested

LUCASVILLE — A multitude of law enforcement agencies have come together to eradicate approximately 500 marijuana plants, and in the process, have arrested a Scioto County man.
Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini and Portsmouth Police Chief Robert Ware said during another two day operation, the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force with assistance from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, members of the Special Response Team from the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, and officers from the State of Ohio Division of Parks and Recreation eradicated approximately 500 Marijuana plants from various areas of Scioto County.
Donini said on Monday officers were conducting an aerial search for marijuana plants when they witnessed an individual take possession of a marijuana plant and attempt to flee from officers in the Lucasville area. Donini said after tossing the marijuana plant into the Scioto River, Marion Stiers, 30, of Lucasville, was apprehended and arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant, which had been issued by the Portsmouth Municipal Court for Failing to Appear for court.
Stiers was placed in the Scioto County Jail.
Donini and Ware thanked the public for the leads involved in the location of the plants, as well as BCI&I, SOCF, and the officers from Parks and Recreation, for their assistance.
