GALLIPOLIS — The Gallia County Junior Fair continues Tuesday with a couple of huge entertainment appearances later in the day.
The fair will recognize “Religious Night” and Senior Citizens Night.” Any senior citizen who presents Golden Buckeye card on Tuesday only will be admitted free of charge.
Things get started at 8 a.m. with the Horse Production and Contest Show in the Horse Arena, followed by Swine Showmanhip at 8:30 a.m. The Healthnet Aeromedical helicopter will be on display in the Pit Area from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Market Swine will take place at 4 p.m. in the Show Arena.
Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts awards will be in the Gray Pavilion at 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively, and the Horse Awards Ceremony will also begin at 6 p.m. in the Horse Arena.
Four-wheel drive truck pulling competition will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Pulling Track, and Barnyard Games will take place at 7 p.m. in the Horse Arena.
Capping off “Religious Night” will be performances by two big-name entertainment groups — The Nelons and Big Daddy Weave.
The Nelons’ gospel music will ring up from Holzer Main Stage Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. The Nelons, consisting of Rex Nelon, Kelly, Jason and Amber have reportedly several awards and accolades under their belts including three Gramm nominations, six Gospel Music Association Dove awards and familiar radio favorites.
Big Daddy Weave is expected to take the stage at 8:30 p.m. after the Nelons. The band consists of Mike Weaver (lead vocals, guitar), Jay Weaver (bass, vocals), Jeremy Redmon (guitar, vocals), Joe Shirk (saxophone, keys, vocals) and Brian Beihl (drums). The group’s song “Redeemed” spent 11 weeks rated No. 1 and was dubbed song of the year at the first annual K-Love Fan Awards and earned Dove Award and Billboard Music Award nominations.
