Middleport man charged with sexual imposition
Tyler Bennett, 19, of Middleport, was charged with fourth-degree gross sexual imposition Tuesday, according to complaint paperwork filed with the Gallipolis Municipal Court. Reportedly on Nov. 4, the Gallia Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible sexual assault committed the same day by Bennett. An interview was conducted by law enforcement. Complaint paperwork states Bennett allegedly admitted to sexual contact with a female victim of 13 years of age. The assault reportedly occurred in Huntington Township. The matter is still being investigated. Bennett is currently in custody.
Gallia deputy hits deer
On Saturday at approximately 2:40 a.m., Gallia Deputy Kyle Perez was responding to a reported burglary in progress. On County Road 35 near the intersection of Ohio 850 with emergency lights on, a deer stepped into the roadway before Perez’s cruiser struck the animal. No officers were harmed in the incident although the vehicle was substantially damaged, said Gallia Sheriff Matt Champlin. The sheriff’s office is still evaluating vehicle repair costs.
GPD responds to robbery complaint
According to Gallipolis Police Chief Jeff Boyer on Nov. 6, GPD officers were dispatched to a home on Central Avenue in Gallipolis in regards to a male who had reportedly been robbed earlier in the day. Gallia EMS was advised to send a squad as well as the individual had suffered a laceration to the arm. Reportedly, the perpetrator attempted to force his way into the victim’s home before making off with objects of value.
Officers also reported to a dumpster fire at 918 Second Avenue the same day.
