GALLIPOLIS — An intense structure fire caused severe damage to A&D Packing behind Farmer’s Bank in the area of Upper River Road.

The initial call came in to Gallia County 911 at 12:43 p.m., with units responding and on scene in a matter of minutes. Gallipolis Fire Department was dispatched to the location with units requesting assistance from the Point Pleasant Fire Department to quell the flames as smoke rose from the building.

Smoke could be seen as far south as the Nazarene Church on Eastern Avenue as units were responding. Nobody was injured at the scene, but one Gallipolis FD unit went to the hospital for heat-related issues and is expected to make a full recovery.

Due to the quick response time, the entire structure is still standing, although the inside of the business is severely burned. A witness on scene, as well as Gallia FD Assistant Chief Mike Null, said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
