Overturned vehicle results in fatality

RIO GRANDE — A Pike County man was killed in an auto accident early Monday morning as he was traveling eastbound on US 35 near State Route 325 close to the highway exit into Rio Grande.

Bryan Hale, 45, of Waverly, suffered fatal injuries while driving a 2002 Jeep Liberty. According to Ohio State Highway Patrol reports, while traveling eastbound, Hale’s vehicle drove off the left side of the road and lost control. The vehicle then traveled across the roadway before striking a guardrail and overturning.

Reports list Hale as not having worn a seat belt.

The road was closed for roughly two hours and the crash is currently under investigation.
