Garden club hosts Clagg

GALLIPOLIS — Allie Jo Clagg was the guest of the Gallipolis Garden Club at its August meeting.

Clagg is the 2017 winner of the Dr. Gary Anderson Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute Scholarship. She received the award for District 11 of the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs. Clagg is a 2017 graduate of Gallia Academy High School. She has been involved with 4-H and Future Farmers of America and is the currently reigning Gallia County Junior Fair Livestock Queen. She plans to attend Ohio State to be an agricultural teacher. She believes by being an agricultural teacher she can change the life of a student as her life has been changed. The club enthusiastically support Clagg and wished her good luck with her future endeavors.

After the business meeting Phyllis Mason continued the club’s theme of “We’ve Got Talent” by discussing do-it-yourself landscaping. She used the theme of PARTY to illustrate her presentation. ‘P’ is for planning, ‘A’ is for accessing and analyzing, R is for research, ‘T’ for time talent and ‘Y’ for yeah, it’s done.

Lily Holley was hostess for the meeting. The September meeting will be the annual club picnic at the home of Sara Spurlock. If you are interested in gardening and possibly joining the garden club, contact club president, Suzy Williams.
