Obie Reeves and Jonas McCreedy of the Gallipolis FFA recently attended State Forestry and Wildlife Conservation Camp in Carrollton.

While at camp, they had the opportunity to study tree identification, timber cruising, outdoor survival, and wildlife identification. They also participated in ecology and forest products classes and were tested at the end of camp. Jonas tied for first place and received a $1,250 scholarship to The Ohio State University.

The camp began in 1950 and today it typically serves over 200 students each year. The Gallia Soil and Water Conservation District provided camp scholarships.
