Andrew Owens, of the Gallipolis FFA Chapter, has been named a recipient of the highest degree awarded by the National FFA Organization, the American FFA Degree.
Andrew was recently awarded this degree at the 89th annual National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind.
Owens is the son of Angela and AJ Owens and is a graduate of Gallia Academy High School. He was enrolled in agricultural education for four years. Andrew’s activities included District 10 Sentinel, Chapter President, Chapter Treasurer, National Convention, State Convention, District Banquet, District Leadership Night, 212/360 Leadership Conference, State Livestock Judging, Parliamentary Procedure, State Forestry, Mid-American Grasslands, Soils, Ag Sales, and Blood Drive.
His supervised agricultural experience included a swine breeding project and raising tobacco. Andrew is attending the Ohio State University – ATI in Wooster. Agricultural education is offered at Gallia Academy High School through the Gallia-Jackson-Vinton JVSD. Jerrod Ferguson and Katherine Terrell are the Gallipolis FFA advisors.
