Gallipolis residents had to dig out the shovels and driving conditions were pretty iffy at times this past weekend, as shown in these pictures taken this weekend on Second Ave. Roadways are now mostly clear, but extremely cold temperatures prevail for the time being. According to the National Weather Service, an “airmass from the North Pole” has settled into the central US today, with widespread subzero lows north of the Ohio River. Things are expected to warm up a little toward the weekend; the NWS predicts temperatures in the low 40s by Saturday.
