LAWRENCE, Kan. — The University of Rio Grande’s Brittany Piccone is among the 295 women’s cross country athletes named a 2013 Daktronics-Scholar Athlete by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Junior Brittany Piccone and sophomore Kyle Sanborn have both been named to the Mid-South Conference Academic All-Conference Team.

Piccone, a junior from Crooksville, Ohio, sports a 3.915 grade point average as an Education major. She was also named to the Academic All-Mid-South Conference team earlier this month.

In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.

Spring Arbor (Mich.) lead all institutions with 10 individuals on the list.
